Street to the Seat: Core Concept: Classification

Everyone wants to "belong" to something. They want to have the classification even when they don't know what it is. People tell me all they time they "belong" to my church when they can't even tell me the name of my senior pastor and he's huge in the Christian faith. Why should they belong to your church? What's the big deal?

Well, the big deal is Ephesians 2:19 says,"That's plain enough, isn't it? You're no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You're no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He's using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what he is building."

I submit to you that you can break down "belong" into the following areas:

BECOME - become a believer and follower of Jesus Christ through salvation and expressed in

baptism.

EMBRACE - embrace a life of purpose through the Great Commission and the Great Commandment

LIVE - live life together in the context of a spiritual small group.

OFFER- offer your time and resources to the ministry of the local church.

NURTURE - nurture relationships within the church and community.

GROW - grow through spiritual next steps.

Everyone wants to belong and be "classified" with something. Let's help them belong to the church.
